Man Jim, BEAUTIFUL sound/color on those! Very lyrical and airy. That 2nd sop had bags of complex power. I don't think a well set up Mark VI sop could hang with either of these.

Excellent?👍 Chinese saxophones are very good, the jazz snobs out there need to acknowledge this fact. I'm objective, in truth there isn't really much difference between my original Selmer and my Chinese copy. They say cheaper materials are used, but they don't take into consideration that these same materials are much cheaper in China than they are in for example France.

They are both nice horns, I 'd look for the one that is setup and playing the best.
1.How is this saxophone compared to Selmer mark6 or sba ? Tone, power, pitch? 2.Is it better in tone than the Buffet sda or s1 model?
It is not the equal of a Mark VI or SBA . It is a nice more vintage kind of horn with a sweet tone but not the power of the Selmers. Pitch not as good as Selmer. Tone very nice and sweet.
What does the conservatory model mean. I have a silver Mark VI. Is it the lacquer, specific model or what?
It has high F#, G# trill key, forked Eb, and high E trill keys. Nothing to do with the finish.

Interesting. Buffet reused their serial numbers so its hard to say the vintage without seeing it. Does it say Super Dynaction on it?

Go to Sam Ash right now because they are going out of business. I brought all four of my Cannonballs 2 sopranos (straight and a curved) my alto and my tenor all Big Bell stone series from them. You should get a sweet deal on the curved 👍🏾
